Scientific Synthesis

The aim of this work package is to develop a framework for analysing effects of global change. It will specifically address tradeoffs and synergies between ecosystem services (the benefits humans derive from natural resources and processes), as well as biodiversity. We will consider these tradeoffs by bringing together both a biophysical and an economic perspective, working closely together with the partners in the GLUES consortium.

Moreover, the people involved are responsible for developing methods to up- and downscale results from ecosystem service policies. This means that we will coordinate information, methods and results between the regional research projects that perform detailed local case studies and the GLUES-consortium, which assesses change at the coarser global scale. We can test methods to generalise results from case studies against the results from global modelling and vice versa.
