SP 4 - Natural ecosystems an funtions (WP 4)

SP4 investigates and evaluates effects of land use practices on natural resource related ESS/F.

1. It will use particular vertebrate species as indicator groups for the biotic diversity of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems,

2. parasites as indicators for ecosystem health,

3. tortoises as a model for conflicts of interest over ESS between individuals and the community, and will measure crop and stock damage through rats in new forms of agricultural practices.

The development of the past and present forest and land-use over time will be studied and utilized to generate different future climate change scenarios. SP 4 will provide quantitative measures for the utilization of forest resources, their potential for carbon sequestration and valorization of forest resources.
